Japanese Laurel features dark green, leathery leaves that stay glossy and vibrant year-round, as long as they are kept in the shade. While the flowers are not particularly eye-catching, the shiny red fruit that ripens in October and November is quite striking, even if partially concealed by the large leaves. Female plants will only produce fruit if a male aucuba is nearby.
